Aware Introduces Healthcare Software Platform for Standards-Based, High-Performance Image Sharing at RSNA
BEDFORD, Mass., Nov. 23, 2010 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Aware, Inc. (Nasdaq: AWRE), a global provider of imaging and biometrics software, today announced the introduction of the redesigned AccuRad ImageShare Server at RSNA 2010. AccuRad ImageShare Server is now a modular, service-oriented (SOA) application services platform used to integrate advanced image sharing and processing with electronic health records (EHR), PACS, teleradiology systems, and health information exchange (HIE) systems. The platform will be demonstrated in the Aware booth at the RSNA 2010 Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting, taking place in Chicago from November 28 to December 2, 2010.
"Aware's AccuRad ImageShare software platform enables rapid integration and time-to-market of advanced, standards-based image sharing functionality," said Patricia Katzman, Strategic Marketing, Medical Software at Aware, Inc. "It helps product developers quickly meet the requirements of EHR Meaningful Use and healthcare information exchange for a broad range of use cases, including patient data access and evidence-based research."
AccuRad ImageShare Server is programmable, scalable, extensible, and secure, capable of managing multiple aspects of data exchange in a healthcare environment. It offers several off-the-shelf software modules for DICOM, XDS-I, JPEG2000, JPIP, audit trail, and PIX Consumer. It includes a rich web-based user interface that enables several useful functions for operators and administrators.
Aware's newly improved AccuRad JPIPStream Viewer developer's toolkit will also be demonstrated at RSNA. It is a standards-based software development toolkit (SDK) that offers unprecedented ease of integration of JPIP streaming into a client viewer. JPIP is the JPEG2000 standard communication protocol for streaming JPEG2000 compressed image data and is used to optimize the speed of viewing large medical image data sets over variable bandwidth networks. The new capabilities in the AccuRad JPIPStream Viewer SDK include automatic and asynchronous progressive viewing, client side caching, request prioritization to control multiple parallel image requests, and memory management to handle a quantity of open images. It supports secure transmission of data through HTTPS, commonly used for secure transactions. It also offers multi-platform 32 and 64 bit support for Mac, Windows, Linux, and Solaris operating systems.
