Aware, Inc. Hosts Tenth Anniversary Celebration For the ITU-T DSL Standards Committee Q4/15

BEDFORD, Mass., April 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Aware, Inc. (Nasdaq: AWRE), a leading supplier of the DSL technology based on ITU-T Recommendations, today announced that it will sponsor and host a special tenth anniversary event to celebrate the worldwide success of the DSL Recommendations generated by the ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) Committee Question 4, Study Group 15 (Q4/15) over the past decade. This event will be held this evening, April 18, 2007, in Napa, CA in conjunction with the April 16-20 ITU-T Q4/15 Rapporteur Meeting.

"For the past ten years, Q4/15 has been the organization developing DSL ITU Recommendations that serve as the backbone of the global deployment success of DSL," commented Aware CEO Michael Tzannes. "At its inception in 1997, there were virtually no active DSL lines, but with the efforts of Q4/15 and its Recommendations, today DSL has grown to more than 185 million subscribers worldwide, making DSL the most popular broadband wide area network technology in the world. This group of technology experts has produced a series of Recommendations that have consistently met demanding market requirements for data rates and functionality. These accomplishments were made over a decade of tremendous change in the broadband industry. Multi- megabit ITU standard G.dmt fueled the first widely deployed residential broadband technology for high-speed Internet access over phone lines. Today ADSL2+ and VDSL2 are enabling entertainment-quality services that include Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) and High-Definition Television (HDTV) services that are shaping telephone companies' triple-play offerings worldwide. All of this is made possible by the combination of perseverance and innovation that characterize the Q4/15 group."

"Aware has participated in a leadership role in Q4/15 since its inception, contributing technology innovations based upon our R&D efforts to improve the data rates, functionality, reliability and flexibility of DSL technology," Tzannes continued. "In recognition of this important milestone, we are proud to be hosting the tenth anniversary event to celebrate the success of Q4/15."
